Welcome to a new and interesting segment of your life.
We, your fellow retired men from nearly all professions including business, science, engineering, and education invite you to take a look at SIR (Sons in Retirement). Founded in 1958 for the strict enjoyment of retired men, the SIR organization has grown to 172 branches with over 30,000 members in northern California, There are no initiation, annual, or monthly dues. Volunteers man all office and administration positions. The SIR organization exists strictly for the enjoyment and dignity of retired men. The original Sons In Retirement articles of incorporation stated:

"The specific purpose of this corporation is to provide for the welfare of retired men -- who are pursuing a common goal, the enjoyment of their later years with dignity and pride -- through association with other retired men who also face the particular problems that confront men upon their retirement."

SIR is an organization that allows each of us to participate in various activities; be as active as each of us wants; develop new associations and still be with old friends and be able to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow members. We never forget the primary purpose of SIR is to have fun. Although these activities are constantly changing depending on the desires of the members some of the more popular ones are: golf , computers , biking, bowling , travel, our newest, hiking, and the main activity, our monthly luncheon held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Palo Alto Elks Lodge, 4249 El Camino Real.

We have set up a site for all our Branch 35 veterans to share stories of their Wartime experience. Please have a look at it.

Branch 35 maintains an e-mail group for the convenience of Branch members. Subscription is by invitation only, and all new members are invited to subscribe. Any subscriber can post a message to the group, which will forward it to all other subscribers. THIS MUST BE USED FOR SIR-RELATED MESSAGES ONLY, but with this constraint members are encouraged to use it.
